Building Blocks LLC is Vermont’s first Black woman-owned property management company. We’re a husband-wife team—Lynna brings 12+ years of business leadership experience, and Courtney brings 20+ years of plumbing and property maintenance expertise. We specialize in helping stressed and retired property owners reclaim their time through hands-on care, radical transparency, and a community-first approach.


We’re not just managing properties—we’re managing the pressure of ownership. Unlike corporate competitors, we offer:

 We manage apartments, short-term rentals, mid-term rentals, and long-term residential properties. Whether you have 1 property or a portfolio, we tailor our services to your needs.


 We provide full-service property management, including:

  • Tenant screening and placement
  • Lease preparation and management
  • Rent collection and financial reporting
  • Property maintenance and repairs (with Courtney’s technical expertise)
  • Regular property inspections with photo documentation
  • 24/7 emergency response
  • Owner portal for real-time updates
  • Monthly financial reports


 Our fees are transparent and straightforward. We charge a percentage of monthly rent collected (typically 10%-20% depending on property type and services needed). No hidden fees. We’ll provide a clear breakdown during your free consultation.


Everything listed above—tenant screening, lease management, rent collection, maintenance coordination, inspections, reporting, and emergency response. You’ll never be surprised by unexpected charges for standard services. 


 We only charge additional fees for extraordinary services outside standard management (like major renovation project management or legal proceedings). These are always discussed and approved by you in advance. 


 We conduct thorough background checks, including credit history, employment verification, rental history, and criminal background. We also personally interview prospective tenants. Our goal is to find reliable, respectful tenants who will treat your property like home. 


 We handle it. We follow Vermont landlord-tenant law precisely, send notices, communicate with tenants, and coordinate legal proceedings if necessary. You stay informed but don’t have to handle the stress. 


 Tenants contact us directly (not you). We assess the issue, coordinate repairs, and keep you informed. For minor repairs, we handle them immediately. For major expenses, we get your approval first. 


 Courtney’s 20+ years of plumbing and property experience mean we catch issues early and know quality work when we see it. We have trusted local contractors, get multiple quotes for major work, and always keep you informed with photos and estimates before proceeding. 


 Absolutely. We provide inspection photos, contractor quotes, and before/after documentation. Transparency isn’t optional for us—it’s how we operate. 


 We conduct regular inspections (quarterly for long-term rentals, between guests for short-term rentals). You receive a detailed report with photos after every inspection.


 Yes! If you have trusted contractors you prefer, we’re happy to work with them. If not, we have vetted local professionals we trust. 


 As much as you want. Some owners want full hands-off management; others want approval on every decision over $250. We tailor our approach to your comfort level. Major decisions are always yours. 


 You’ll receive monthly financial reports and inspection updates. We also reach out immediately for any significant issues. You’ll have access to an owner portal for real-time updates anytime you want them. 


 We want to earn your trust. Our contracts are for a 1-year term with a clause that if at any point you are unhappy with our service, we’ll work to fix it. If it’s not a fit, you’re free to move on. 


No. We believe in earning your business, not trapping you in a contract. We offer a 1-year contract with flexible terms because we’re confident in the value we provide.


 Schedule a free consultation. We’ll discuss your property, your goals, and your concerns. Then we’ll walk you through our process, answer all your questions, and create a custom management plan. 


We make it seamless. Whether your property is vacant or currently occupied, we handle:

  • Property walkthrough and documentation
  • Lease review or creation
  • Tenant communication (if applicable)
  • Maintenance assessment
  • Financial setup and reporting systems

Most owners are fully onboarded within 2 weeks.


 No problem. We’ll coordinate with your current tenants, review existing leases, and transition management smoothly. Your tenants will appreciate the professional structure, and you’ll appreciate the peace of mind. 


 We’re available 24/7 for true emergencies (flooding, no heat in winter, safety hazards). We respond immediately, coordinate repairs, and keep you informed. You sleep soundly knowing we’ve got it covered. 


 Our owner portal gives you real-time access to financials, maintenance records, inspection reports, and tenant communication. You’re never in the dark.
